Birth is probably the most traumatic process that humans go through. Traumas experienced at birth through a long labour, or difficulty passing through the birth canal, can lead to problems with sleep, excessive crying, and an unsettled child.

"A study of 57 children aged between 6 months and 6 years old who had recurrent episodes of acute ottitis media (ear infection) showed that children who received osteopathic treatment alongside conventional treatment had fewer episodes of infection and fewer surgical procedures. The study concluded that osteopathic treatment for children with acute otitis media may decrease the need for surgery or antibiotic overuse." The use of osteopathic manipulative treatment as adjuvant therapy in children with recurrent acute otitis media.
